A literacy program for Mythik Camps, wrapped in mythological storytelling and built to get every camper to tell their own story, in whatever format they reach for.
Mythik Camps runs a literacy program at its core, where the vehicle is mythological storytelling and the mission is simple: get every camper to tell their own story. The hard part was building a platform that made good on that mission for every kid, not just the ones who already think of themselves as writers.
That meant no barriers, no hierarchy of "real" writing, and a narrative frame strong enough to make submitting feel like a heroic act instead of an assignment. The platform had to lower the barrier and raise the stakes at the same time.
A single submission flow that accepts any format a story can take, text, photo, audio, video, or PDF, feeding a live counter and a public gallery. Built on WordPress and designed so a camper can go from "I have a story" to "it's on the wall" in under a minute, with no login and no minimum word count.
Wrap the ask in a myth. Shahrazad is collecting 1,001 stories to save the world again, and she needs yours. Rather than asking kids to "submit content," the platform frames writing as a heroic act in a story they already want to be part of. The narrative does the motivating that a homework prompt never could.
Every format counts. Text, photo, audio, video, and PDF all count toward 1,001. A voice memo or a photo essay is as valid as an essay, which removes the "I'm not a writer" barrier entirely. Literacy is treated as something you do, not only something you write.
A live story counter. A real-time tracker shows the current count against the 1,001 goal, so progress is visible and shared. When the number moves, each camper feels part of something larger than their own page. The counter turns individual writing into a collective act.
